The Ohio County Probate Courts maintain records such as births and deaths for each county prior to 1908. You can obtain these details by contacting these offices or ordering online.

Ohio's Department Of Public Heath in Columbus maintains vital records for the state including birth, death, marriage and divorce records. This office stores and issues copies of birth records from December 20 1908 onwards.

Ohio Public Records - Birth Records

In recent years, there has been an increased interst in finding birth records of past and present Ohio residents. The State office maintains birth records from December 20, 1908 onwards. For birth records before 1908, you can write to the County Probate Court in the county where the birth took place or or order online.

Ohio Public Records - Death Records

The State office maintains records from December 20, 1908. For earlier death records, you can write to the County Probate Court  where the death occurred. The Ohio State Office has death records from 1954 onwards. Death records of people in Ohio that happened before December 20, 1908 and December 31, 1954, can be obtained from the following address:

Ohio Public Records - Marriage Records

The State Of Ohio maintains Marriage Records from September 1949 to the present day, from the Probate Judge in county where the marriage took place. It's not possible to obtain a Certified copy of a marriage from State Health Department.

Ohio Public Records - Divorce Records

In recent years there has been a increase in searches for divorce records in Ohio for a range of reasons. The State Health Department or County Clerk where the divorce occurred provide these records to those searching for them. Records since September 1949 are available, but Certified copies of divorce records are not available from State Health Department.
